This is a service provided by the BBC.

First we begin with a walk around Edinburgh.

Quote:
Welcome to a walk around 16th century Edinburgh – and a story of power, politics, romance, religion, murder and treachery. Mary Queen of Scots spent six short but turbulent years here in the capital, at a pivotal time in Scottish history. And the drama that unfolded has fascinated generations ever since.

Finlaggan audio walk

Quote:
Finlaggan’s a remote spot, away from the bustle of the towns and the main road. But it wasn’t always like this. Once it was the centre of a great medieval Lordship - the Lordship of the Isles - one that ruled from the Butt of Lewis down through the Hebrides to the Mull of Kintyre from the early 14th century to 1493.

Stirling audio walk

Quote:
Today, Stirling is one of Scotland's smaller cities, but back in the middle ages all roads led there. William Wallace’s legendary triumph over the English took place nearby, as did the battles of Falkirk and Bannockburn.

Neil Oliver takes a journey through the historic heartland of Scotland in the company of experts Richard Oram and Fiona Watson. Why not print out directions4 and take them with you?
